Milla at work

And while mom and Seba were playing on the sofa, Milla was working in daddy's lab alongside with him. Actually she was really doing something usefull, since what she is playing with is an educational game to teach kids Finnish language :)
She looked so cute !!

Seba joking with Mom

Seba really loves to watch me while i sew and he loves sewing simple projects himself. Along with this he can be such a smart and funny boy that really makes you laugh out loud. Soon after i finished my little quilt he started jokingly pretending he was sleeping on it using as pillow my pin cushion :)

Mini-quilt

Around one year ago ( it was probably around spring '08 ) i started my first quilting project.
I love Amish culture, and in my many books about Amish i learned about quilting and decided to give it a try. Well last saturday my first small quilt was finally finished. It's really small, some 120 cm or so in its longer side and maybe 50 in its shorter, but it's really warm and i take it around and put on my legs when i seat knitting or reading and in general doing 'table' things.
Here a couple of pictures, one of the top side and the back side. The stitching is not perfect, but still i'm really satisfied and can't wait to start a new quilting project soon.

Dawn of a new day ...

This morning, as i went out to take the 3 older kids at the schoolbus stop i've been amazed by the beauty of the dawn. After several days of rain the air is cold and clean and this makes for incredible colours when the sun start rising over the horizon. As soon as i came back home i grabbed my camera and went outside.

Staring such beauty makes me think, and wonder, and be thanksful.

Couple of years ago i started a very personal and intimate walk in my own spirituality and everyday i learn and find something new. The wonders of creation always help me make a little step ahead in my research. They teach me to be humble and keep an open heart. To have 'eyes of wonder' as a young child, always in love with the universe, with every little grain of salt that makes life worth.

Today the beauty of the silent country and far away horizon taught a lesson i need to learn as soon as possible : words are not always needed. I realize i tend to speak too much, always eager to let my opinion strongly out, usually with the best intentions, but still many times my tongue would better rest a bit. Sometime, i realized this morning, i try to be caring, warring for this and that, and instead i probably seem to complitely lack trust in the other person, usuallly my husband ... food fot thought .... here my dawn :)

Epiphany day - january 6th

Here in Italy the celebration of Epiphany ( i know in some other country is called 3 kings day ) ends the Christmas period. In the night between 5 and 6 january this old lady flying on a broomstick fills the socks children leave with candies and other sweet goodies and small presents like glitter glue or pencils. Here our Christmas tree with the 4 big socks filled.

The next day, january the 7th schools open again and life is back to normal day by day routine :(

Treasure Hunt

The other day me and PapaF decided to organize a funny indoor activity for the kids, a treasure hunt all over the house with abig treasure to be found.
I took near a couple of hours to write all the rhyming riddles and finding the right places to hid them and the treasure, but after the effort it came out fun and nice.
Of course pirates go hunting treasures so first of all they all had to turn in pirates !

Leo

Seba

Gaia

Are you scared !?!

I'm Milla the Terrible !!

First Riddle

Let's discuss, it's a team game ...

Another riddle found !

Gaia reading it out loud once again, to find the solution ...

Let me think ..... you keep reading it please ....

The map !

Let's follow it !

Trying to have a guess on the last riddle written on the map itself...

In the cave looking for the treasure, it must be here somewhere.....

Here's the treausure !!!!!

The house on the sofa

One of the best sides of being the mother of a little bunch is the chance to watch them play without the need of being one of them. As an only child, i remember when my mother was home i always looked for her to play and of course someway this spoiled the game since you feel, when playing with an adult, that some things can't be done. Instead with the four of them unless they really want to play with me or do some kind of activity with me, they have enough playmates to let their fantasy run wild and free. So the other day they asked permission to play on the sofa 'When we're done we'll put everything back ! ... ' After a long while my curiosity had the best of me and i had to go downstairs armed of camera and of my amazement there was a complete 2 rooms house on our beloved sofa, complete with a loving father ( or maybe even grandfather ) lovely handing present before lunch .....

From what i understood, the dolls sleeping are Gaia'a and Leo's children, Seba was Gaia and Leo's father and in this moment he is giving them a small present before lunch...
