Memories - SeaLife

On 22 of june we went to the Sea-Life here in Helsinki. It's always a kind of magical and mystic experience, since you really feel like diving into the ocean's water to give a close look to the wonderful underwater world.
Just some pic of our visit, to cherish the memory of it.

My favourite. I could stare at this wonder for hours

...Just beautiful ....

Memories - Steamrail adventure

On june the 19th Leo could enjoy the present he longed more for his birthday. One of his dream coming true. Being the lovely oldfashioned boy he is, he wanted so badly to have a ride in a steam train. It seemed hardly possible, instead we found out in this small ancient and lovely town few km away from Helsinki ( Porvoo ) for the month of june, every saturday and sunday the ancient steam train twice a day made a 4 hours trip ( back and forth ) to a nearby town. For the occasion we all dressed in an oldfashion way to match as much as possible with the beautiful train. We must have succeded since we've been asked permission to have pictures taken of the kids on the train. Maybe they thought we were stuck there in a time loop since the train was in use back in the time lol.

Kids dresses are ready to be weared since the night before

Here we are !
We made it hardly in time to get on board, so no pics of the train before departure.

Exploring the train

A little snack at the cafeteria on board

When we arrived in Kerava, the only stop, the Engine was detached from the train and it was connected on the other side to go back. It took a while so PapaF had the time to take some pic.

Details

So when we left we were just behind the engine, when we came back we were at the end of train. This was the view. Lovely countryside.

When we arrived back in Porvoo the kids were allowed to climb over the engine

As a young lady Gaia felt it was better not to climb :)

Oil

Old tools

You see the matching vintage aprons we are wearing ? They're lovely

A dream come true.
A blessed day.

Memories - Seurasaari ( or the squirrel island as we call it )

On 4th june we went  to one of our favourite places here in Helsinki, the open air museum of Seurasaari. This is a beautiful island, connected to the land with a bridge. On this island you will find all the different kind of buildings, churches and farmhouses brought here from all over Finland ( yes it's wild ! everything was unbuilt and then re-built on the island ) along with a gorgeous nature. It's really a little peace of Heaven.

This is a small side bridge, floating over the water of the bay. I was too afraid to walk it with the kids ( there's no fence as you can see ) but this bring to a smaller island where a group of people lives and work in a medieval-like village.

This is the main bridge. Isn't it beautiful.

Squirrels are so friendly over there. We always bring with us nuts to make friends with them little creatures.

They grab a peanut and then climb back over a tree. Then hanging up-side-down they eat it.

One of the ancient wood-houses

A farm house

Lovely

A little village

A church-boat. Back in the days there weren't many roads here in Finland, but there always been rivers and lakes. So there were these church boats to bring an whole village to church on Sunday.

Another wood-house

Gaia went buying coffee for us. In Finnish ! I'm so amazed how easily the started using the few words they know. Not that being homeschooled made them especially shy lol. Or unable to socialize ;)

Milla's beautiful hair

Local lolly-pops, 'oldfashionedly' made

She still can use the clothes I sewed for her last year. That's good since this year I didn't have the time ( or the sewing machine available ) to sew new ones.

A beautiful old wooden mill

The little thing looked so old. And this made him ( her ? ) even more precious isn't it ?

Beautiful !!
I so much hope one day to have one myself.
It's one of my dreams :)
